For our book week topic we have been looking
at the book ‘Flotsam’. In the story some mysterious photographs are found by a
boy on the beach. There are lots of unusual pictures of creatures underwater such
as mechanical fish, an octopus sitting on a sofa and a turtle with a whole city
on its back.
As part of our story writing this week, we have
focused on using expanded noun phrases with a preposition. For
your homework, imagine or draw your own underwater scene and then write a
paragraph on the blog describing what’s in the scene that you have created.
Remember to use expanded noun phrases. Choose your adjectives
carefully-try to use some that nobody else will use!

ReplyDeleteThere was a golden metallic narwhale with a sharp horn on his nose digging the underwater sand in the bottom of the sea searching for Enchanted crystals so they could be one of the richest sea creatures in the land. Also, there was a scary hairy tiger shark which swam rapidly towards the gigantic poisonous jellyfish and electric eels to nibble them for his supper. Little did he know that when he ate them he would get an electric shock and die from the slimy green venom. The sharp blue seahorse was rocking back and forth like a baby in a cradle.

You've written some great expanded noun phrases. Now can you put these into sentences. E.g from:

ReplyDeleteThe acrimonious ninja shark has a big black balaclava, around its face and it also has filecard, tusk teeth! This shark has not got any of human teeth so it only has canines! The truth is that it has a green elephantine tale, sitting at the end of the shark's back. The acrimonious ninja shark is extremly skillful at caching its prey. Sharks eat smaller fish and hooligan crabs, and squishy squid, too. The blue/green ninja shark has a red fin on its body, which can be poison to other fish! This fish can be up to forty six feet (forteen metres) long. The basihyal (the shark's tongue) can be some times useless to some of these sharksn and it can be about one metre long. It is sometimes the coulour of strong blue!!

For my underwater scene, there is a big turtle with a crusty brown shell, which had long flippers that are the size of a bus. It had huge blue eyes. There are many long plants in my scene, and they are swaying with the tide.On the turtles giant crusty shell there was a few animals like fish,wales,dolphins and giant sharks. it is fund in the warm parts of the great big blue sea.

The sun glistened warmly upon the shimmering sea as golden bubbles of light formed on the surface of the water. Deep down in bright blue sea, there sat; half buried in the rough sand a brown and gold, rusty, old chest which was ledged on the rocky seabed. Bright multi- coloured fish zoomed past the chest with their school; nibbling plankton as they swam. The rusty gold was dull and cracked, the wood covered in fungus and rot and keyhole almost unnoticeable in the shadows but the keyhole had no use as the key was cast away and the mysterious chest, half open. If you peered very carefully inside you would discover dazzaling diamonds, red rubies, stunning sapphires, oval opals and elegant emeralds sparkling inside.On the rocky, grey seabed there were shiny sea urchin shells that lay still; bright green seaweed; noisy, scuttling crabs and small cod and salmon. Some land rubbish lay carelessly strewn across the seabed; plastic covers, glass pieces, plastic bottles, apple skin and lot of tin cans.

Turlularfishes, that have the head of a fish, whereas the body of a turtle, have recently been found in large aqua seas near the equator. This unknown specie, which is delicate, looks awesome and epic, as the absolute utter back is covered in a busy, occupied city. They have cuspate, barbed claws at the end of each arm. The gentle soft arms are perched on the middle of the body. Whereas, all other hybrids love water turtularfishes do not. Despite the fact that they are adapted in the water, they still live with it every day almost except for when they go out on a walk…

My creature is called a multle. It has a head of a turtle and the rest is just a normal fish. They are found in deep turquoise oceans. It camouflages into the colour it's touching. Well they are very mysterious and they are mysterious because they have spikes on their fins. They also are their because nobody can see them so it can zoom through the coral reef and kill it's prey.

My own idea is a jelly-fish sitting and guarding a gigantic boat or a ship and by giving it a electric shock to the boat or a ship.The jelly-fish has no eyes to see because they are blind but they can still see with out their eyes.Also they don't have any brains to think they even have no ears to hear any body or any one ears.The jelly-fishes have tentacles the fishes or scary sea creatures can swim some where else so the jelly-fishes don't need to shock them with their tentacles to get scared of them.So that they can not get into their boat or a ship.Also if they saw somebody in their boat or a ship. DeleteIt was a fine sunny day.The sun is shining through the clean ocean water. I can see different species of fish.Fishes were so colourful. The one that attracts me most is the orange-green Trigger fish, the most aggressive of all trigger species. I can see the beautiful coral reefs. Different colours and some are stony corals. The transparent water helps me to see this beautiful scene under the water. With all these bright colours and vivid sea animals, there was a big blue whale too and his little whale son. They keep on swimming and swimming in this clean ocean water.

They were peculiar pictures but Jack was interested in one in particular. The picture showed bright orange upside down crabs. It looked like mermaids used them as sofas, as there were young graceful mermaids siting on the crabs. In this particular place (Treasure Reef) all the mermaids would find a chest and search for things in the chest like: gleaming gold coins, a sharp cutlass; blood red rubies. The water down at the sea bed looked murky and the chests had rusty, creaky hinges. The chests were brown, fish scale patterned boxes with gold locks. The chests were usually found half buried in piles of sea weed. There was some writing at the bottom of the picture. It said: Back then the saying was: you need a key to be able to enter treasure reef. The writing was scrawny and illegible. Jack gasped in disbelief.

Meanwhile, pink coral reefs were jumping, trying to reach the plane sky. A wobbly octopus with two legs was staring at a one cm long purple star fish clinging on snake skin. The flat spotty stingray was playing hopscotch on giant White Sea shells. At a distance I can see large gigantic whale breathing out fire like a dragon was approaching towards giant ten metre narwhal that was cracking the cold ice with their ivory tusks. The hungry seal turned its beady brown eyes to look at the oversized whale and narwhal got scared and quickly tried to hide behind a big old wooden log. The army of little golden fishes wandered everywhere searching for it mother, the queen golden fish. The five eyed killer whale leaped out of the light blue sea like a spring and gobbled as many fishes as it could in one go, while the eight handed crab clicked its fingers noisily to grab some attention.

Beneath the clear, deep blue tropical ocean, lies a vibrant coral reef. The corals attract many enchanting animals. Shoals of yellow pyramid butterflyfish swim elegantly above the coral reef. Below, rainbow parrotfish scrape algae from the surface of the coral, cautiously avoiding the carnivorous sea anemones, which are swaying their poisonous tentacles to catch food. A brittle star moves slowly along the sea bed, wriggling its long arms and shelters in the cave formed by coral and algae. The spider crab grasps the purple sea urchin with its pincers and moves into its hiding hole, escaping the approaching zebra shark.

My Flotsam Scene
ReplyDeleteI can see a large majestic dolphin shooting out of the beautiful shimmering ocean. In the background there are lots of palm trees surrounding a beautiful sandy beach with piles of coconuts underneath. Under the water you can see a giant coral reef in all the colours of the rainbow. There are groups of glimmering orange fish swimming amongst the seaweed and small crabs crawling through the sand and stones at the bottom of the crystal clear ocean. Some of the fish look scary with large teeth and long sharp spikey fins while others look colourful and pretty. You can see the suns reflection on top of the water.

My sea creature is fish with eight fins which is called an octo-fish. Octo-fish have beady, greenish, blueish, cute eyes. If an octo-fish has brown eyes it means that they have the fish curse. The fish curse means that a fish has got cursed by a by something like a shark (The Curse Sharks). Octo-fish like to eat tiny fish like: shrimp and krill. Lots different animals can eat octo-fish even they can eat other octo-fish sharks, lamp ton-fish and many others can too. These creatures are also very helpful creatures even though they are so small.
