Teeth

This week we would like you to write about the different
types of teeth  and their functions in humans (you could also write about other animals) and how to look after them.
Links to useful websites will be on your class blogs.

You are expected to write at least three paragraphs for this
homework. If you type your work in Microsoft word first, it should be at least 250 words.
You will find some information to help you on the following websites. Please remember that your work should be in your own words, so make notes, rather than copy information from the website!

Remember to check your work carefully before you post.

When your a baby and your first born you will have no teeth but when you get a bit older you will have small teeth called milk teeth. When your older you are aged 5-6 years old your milk teeth will fall out 1 by 1 and in that gap there will be a new teeth called adult teeth.

You will have different types or teeth and they are canines, molers, premolers and insisors.
insisors:help you bite of and chew peices of food.
canines: help to tear and rip meat.
molers:help to crush and grind food.
    premolers:help to crush any food.

Humans and animals have different types of teeth because they help breakdown what we eat for example meat and plants. Our teeth will change when we grow up. The teeth you had when you were a baby isn’t the same when you’re an adult. Sugar can ruin your teeth by stop them from doing their job and causing pain because of the decay.
We have 4 different types of teeth:
    • Canine- helps with biting of our food
    • Incisors- help to chew our food
    • Molars and Premolars- helps with crushing our food
It is important to keep our teeth clean by brushing our teeth twice a day for 2-3 minutes. This will help to keep our teeth healthy by removing any food which is stuck between our teeth. We can also keep our teeth healthy by eating more healthy food like 5 portions of fruits and vegetables a day and water to bee hydrated. Drinking milk will make our teeth and bones stronger because it has calcium. The more milk we drink, the stronger our teeth and bones will become. Adults have 32 teeth and kids have 28. Also, egg cell’s is like our teeth. The top surface of your teeth is the hardest part of your body! When babies drink milk, their teeth start to grow because milk has calcium. Your baby teeth start to full between the age of 6-12. Teeth are covered in a hard substance called enamel!!Braces are often used to straighten your teeth or align your teeth.

molars and premolars. Your canines help you rip and tear food.
The molars help you too grind the food and crush the food.
The incisors help you to bite and cut food like grass.
The wisdom teeth come up when you are (17-21) years.
    Although not everybody gets them.
They are called wisdom teeth because they appear when you are older as then
    You are wiser.

The crown is the part of the tooth that can be seen above the gum.
The root is the part of the tooth that is under the gum that can’t be seen.
It is embedded in the jaw bone.
The jawbones anchor the teeth in the mouth.
The buds of the milk and the permanent teeth are formed in the jawbones long
    Before the teeth eventually appear.
The gum covers the bone around the teeth.
Healthy gums look firm and pink whilst unhealthy gums can look red
And puffy and may bleed when cleaning them.
The enamel is the smooth shiny layer of the tooth.
It is the hardest material in your body which makes it good for chewing food.
It gives the teeth their whitish colour.

Your teeth help you to chew, rip, tear and bite.
You should brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes so you can take your plaque out and you would not have very dirty black teeth.

  6. Different types of teeth and their functions.

    1) Incisors are eight teeth in the front and center, of your mouth.(four on top and for at the bottom). Next Incisors are the teeth which helps you to take bites of your food.

    2) Canines helps us by ripping and tearing hard food. Canines are the most important teeth for humans and for animals. Because Canines are the sharpest teeth ripping apart the food.

3)Molars are replaced by the first and second permanent premolars.
The permanent molars do not replace but comes in behind the primary
    teeth.

    4) Premolars are the teeth which you have four premolars on each side of your mouth, two on upper and two on lower jaw. Premolars helps you for chewing and grinding food into little pieces.

5)Third molars are known as wisdom teeth. However these are the last teeth to develop.

Canines-Canines are helpful to our teeth. They rip and tear meat so it is very easy to eat it. If an animal is a carnivore, then it has canines in it. The animal that has canines eats other live animal. When it caught its prey it canines rips other animals flesh. It has on foxes, dogs and wolves. They can fall off when you are 6 years old. They are also called “eye teeth”.

Incisors- Incisors are used for biting and cutting food. They are only used to omnivore and herbivore. Sheep, cows, horses and humans are those who uses because to rip lettuce and, plants. They are in front of our mouth and they also fall off when you are 6 years old.

Molar and Pre-molar- Molar and premolar are there for chewing, crushing and grinding food. Child and toddlers don’t have pre-molar as they are very small. It has a large flat surface to crush it and has more root than other small teeth. They are next to the canines to help it to make the food smaller. Child and toddlers have one more molar than a premolar. A wisdom one only comes when you are 17 to 21 years old. They are also called “cheek teeth”.You will not get the wisdom teeth even you are 17 or 21 so be careful! From Soham

  8. Human beings need their teeth to eat. That means means that with no teeth a person would die. There are three kinds of teach; canine, incisorts and molars. Different kinds of teath are more important foar different kinds of animals.

lions are carnivores wich means they only eat meat. so they need canines to subdue there pray and rip there flesh. Incicors are then used to cut the meat up more. herbivors need there molars ti grind down there food.

Omnivores are animals that eat meat and leaves. So they need all the teeth to digest.human being in most cases are omnivores so we needa healthy set of all three kinds of teeth. My dad dosent is 67 and has lost alot of teeth because he did not brush them enough.

    1. Humans teeth get durty by drinks such as coke, fanta, sprite, sevenup.Humans have many teeth and they should be white. If they are yellow it means that you should brush your teeth more. Everyone hsould brush there teeth two times a day. But you can brush your teeth even more if you want after eating somehing surgary.

Everyone has two sets of teeth. The baby teeth come first but when you are a child these will come out. Once they are out new theeth will gorw. These teeth are stornger and are called your adult teeth because you should have theme for the rest of your life. But if you are very old they might fall out so you need fake teeth.

Things that clean your tteth are called toothpast, flossing, saliva and mouth wash. Teeth are bones. If you get inured or hurt them they can break or chip. This might happen if you bang them against something hard. So it is very important to look after them carefully.

  9. Human Teeth:

The mouth is the first part of the digestive system. The human teeth is made up of four different types of teeth which are called: incisors, canines, pre-molars and molars. It is their job to break the food into smaller pieces that are easier to digest. The teeth each do a different part to digest the food. They do their job on the food if required, if not they pass it to the next tooth. In the end of the process the saliva breaks it up even more and sends it to the oesophagus. But, what are the different jobs? Let’s find out!

These are the names, jobs and the location in the mouth of the teeth: Firstly, incisors are the four front teeth on the top and bottom and their job is to bite into the food. Next are the canines, they are the two on each side of the incisors and their job is to rip the meat. The next two teeth are pre-molars and molars. Pre-molars are the two teeth before the molars (back teeth) and they chew the food up. Molars are the three back teeth (3 on each side) which grind the food. The teeth can only do this if they are healthy, so to learn how to take care of our teeth, Read on!

All the teeth have a difficult job, making sure they are healthy enough to function we have to be healthy and eat good food. What is good food? Good food are fruits, vegetables, protein, carbohydrates and dairy. Milk is very good for your teeth because it contains protein and fibre which make bones and teeth stronger. If you eat sweets, it’s best if you eat it with a meal because then the nutrients from the food will get mixed in the saliva and can repair the damage the sweet has done. Always brush your teeth twice a day for 5 minutes and floss!

  12. Children have twenty four teeth. They have incisors, canines, molars and premolars. First the incisors rip the food, next the canines cut the food, then the premolars start chewing and finally the molars chew but they break every bit of food completely down.

Children take care of their teeth by brushing their teeth everyday at least one-two minutes in the morning (before breakfast or after) and before going to bed. If you have a lot of sugar every day you must brush your teeth two-three minutes and if you don't your teeth will suffer from decay. But don't worry if you have a problem and you can't fix it because the dentist can probably fix it if you go regulary to see them. If you are a child you can go for free! Also it is important to look after your teeth for you have only two chances.

After your fist teeth (baby teeth or milk teeth) have fallen some more teeth start to grow and they are called permanent (adult) teeth. They don't fall or grow again and they stronger.

There are three sections of health. They are omnivores, carnivores and herbivores. Humans are omnivores and we have to eat different types of food to keep us healthy. Lions are carnivores and they only eat meat. Sheep are herbivores and they eat only plants.

Children take care of their teeth by brushing their teeth everyday with a mediuim size toothbrush and a good tooth past (Florid, whitening)at least one-two minutes in the morning (before breakfast or after) and before going to bed. 13. Teeth
Humans have four kinds of teeth, they are: Canines, Incisors, Pre-molars and last but not least molars. In this text, we will be explaining what these different teeth are meant for, how to look after all of them and also the position of these teeth in our mouth. For example: Pre-molars are positioned next to Molars and Molars belong next to: Pre-molars.
Canines are meant for tearing and ripping food up into little pieces to make it easier to swallow. To look after them all you have to do to look after these teeth is: brush them at least two times a day, not eating too much sugar and visiting the dentist quite regularly so that they can tell you how well you are looking after your teeth. They are next to Incisors.
Incisors are meant for ripping the food into tiny pieces. To look after these the same follows because they are still all teeth so you must look after them in exactly the same way. Incisors are your front teeth.
Molars are used for grinding food into ever so tiny pieces which makes the food far easier to swallow. You should do exactly the same to look after them. Molars are the very back teeth.
Pre-molars grind things into very tiny pieces but not as tiny as molars grind the food into. Looking after is exactly the same. They belong next to molars.

  14. We have two sets of teeth in our lifetime. Firstly a newborn baby gets its teeth at the age of six months. Then at the age of five you should have twenty teeth. These are called your milk teeth. When you are nine you would have lost most of your milk teeth. Around the age of twenty you will have a set of thirty two permanent teeth.
We have different types of teeth which are: incisors, canines, premolars and molars. Although these teeth are different we need to treat them the same way. We can look after our teeth by: brushing them twice a day for a minimum of two minutes, having a balanced diet and not eating too much sugar, visiting the dentist regularly and using fluoride toothpaste. You can also floss and use mouthwash. If you don’t look after your teeth they will go rotten and fall out. Sometimes all your teeth fall out and you have to get false teeth.
There are two parts of the tooth those parts are called the root and the crown. You can see the crown but you can’t see the root. The root holds your tooth in place, you can’t see it as it is the part of the tooth that is in the gum. The crown is the bit that you can see and, the job of the crown is the chewing.
Every tooth has a different function. The incisor’s function is cutting up the food, the canine is used for ripping and tearing, the premolar is for chewing and the molar is for grinding. All the different eaters have incisors, molars and premolars. In animals, if they are herbivores, instead of having canines they have a diastema (which is a gap). A lot of animals have all the teeth but some do not have all the types of teeth.

  16. The teeth are inside our mouth. They are a part of the digestive system. Our teeth help us to grind, chew and bite our food.Four different tissues make up each tooth.Teeth are covered in a hard substance called enamel. The enamel protects the tooth from the wear and tear of chewing. The part below the enamel is called the dentin. It is not as hard as the enamel.Below the dentin is the pulp. The root is inside the gums.Teeth are surrounded by gums.It makes up about 2/3 of the teeth total length. The crown is what you see when you smile or open your mouth.

There are four types of teeth .They are canines, molars,Premolars and incisors. The canine teeth are in the corners of your mouth. They are for ripping and tearing meat. The molars are at the back of your mouth. They are also flat to grind down the food that makes it easier to digest.Premolars are located just behind your canine teeth. They are to crush the food.Incisors are your front teeth. They are built to cut food, they are your sharpest teeth.

To help look after your teeth, brush your teeth twice a day.Drink lots of water. If not brushed properly bacteria can cause tooth decay, also called cavities.Rinse mouth after eating a meal or sweets.Visit the dentist every six months for a check up.Eat fruits and vegetables daily .Drink lots of milk as teeth are made up of calcium.Choose the right paste with fluoride content.

  18. Humans and animals have different teeth. Humans have baby teeth and adult teeth. They are used for chewing, tearing, grinding and biting into the food. There are four types of teeth which are Incisors, Canines, Molars and Premolars. Incisors help to bite into the food, Canines rip the meat, Premolars chew the meat and molars help grind the food the next stage is the digestive system. There are eight Incisors four on the top and four on bottom, these are the first teeth to erupt. Canines are the next type of teeth to develop. The first Premolars begin to appear at the age 10.We have four Premolars on each side of our mouth, two on the upper jaw and two on the lower jaw. Molars are commonly known as Wisdom teeth and these are the last teeth to develop at age 20 and above.
We take care of our teeth by brushing our teeth, flossing it, going to the dentist regularly and eating sugary foods within meal time. For good dental health we have to eat healthy diet. On top of our teeth there is a coating called Enamel. Enamel protects our teeth from tooth decay and is harder than bone. We have two sets of teeth in a life time. A baby is born without teeth. At age of 3 we get twenty teeth and they are replaced by 32 adult teeth. Adult teeth start to grow between six to twelve years .Permanent teeth are larger and take a longer time to grow than first set of teeth.
If we don’t look after our teeth very well we can get problems like tooth decay and cavities. Most cavities will occur on molars and premolars. Brushing with a Fluoride tooth paste is very effective in preventing dental decay.Regular tooth brushing helps our teeth whiten and a happy smile. Animal teeth are different depending on type of food they eat.Meat eaters have sharp teeth and plant eaters have flat teeth.

A herbivore is an animal anatomically and physiologically adapted to eating plant material, for example foliage, for the main component of its diet. As a result of their plant diet, herbivorous animals typically have mouthparts adapted to rasping or grinding. Horses and other herbivores have wide flat teeth that are adapted to grinding grass, tree bark, and other tough plant material.

  20. There are lots of types of teeth in your mouth but what do they do?
    Incisors
Incisors are the teeth at the front of the mouth, there are four on each side and with there job being to cut or shear food into small chew able pieces which will help to bite into the food.

    Canines
Canines help to rip or tear chicken or lots of other food but most likely meats or fish.Canines are in the corners of the mouth in between the incisors and the premolars.

    Premolars
Premolars are in the middle of the mouth. Unlike the incisors and canines, have a flat biting surface wich will help to grind and crush the food.

    Molars
Molars are at the back of the mouth amd are the largest teeth but it does help by grinding food. The proper function for the molars is chewing food.

    Looking after your own teeth.
you can look after your own teeth by brushing it two times and for two minutes a day and flossing it each day.You must brush your teeth because if you do not brush it regualy there is a chance of you getting wholes which are black and you rely do not want because it could fall out!Another way of looking after your teeth is going to the dentist at least once a month. When you get older your teeth get looser if you do not brush or floss it each day.

This is why you need to look after your teeth because they might fall out one day

  21. - Your teeth at the front are called your Incisors, these teeth are used to cut , chop and breakup food.
    - Your Canines are next to your Incisors , these teeth have a pointed end ,these teeth are used to rip and tare meat or chewy things.
    - Your Premolars are next to your Canines , these teeth are used to chew food.
    - Your Molars are next to your Premolars, these teeth are for chewing and grinding food up in to small tiny pieces. Your Molars are your last teeth and they are bigger than some of the other teeth inside your mouth.

  22. There are different types of teeth in humans and animals. Humans teeth change with age. Humans have two sets of teeth one is baby teeth and one is adult teeth. Baby teeth grow when a baby is six to ten months old. These teeth are called milk teeth. When the children reach age of five they have about twenty teeth. Baby teeth fall out when you are six years old. After that adult teeth begin to grow. Adults can have thirty two teeth or less. Animals that eat meat are called carnivores teeth are sharp so that they can tear meat. Animals that eat plants and vegetables are called herbivores. Teeth can be found in the skull on the jaw bones the roots are embedded with gums securing them.

    There are four types of teeth;
    1. canines are for ripping and tearing food.
    2. incisors help to chew and bite the
    3. Premolars help grind the food.
    4. Molars helps grind the food as well.

It is our responsibility to look after our teeth, e.g we should go to the dentist regularly for check ups.
We should brush our teeth 2 times a day. We should avoid eating sugary things like candy, juice, fizzy drinks and chocolate because sugar rots our teeth and can cause tooth decays. Tooth decay can cause cavities that mean holes in between our teeth and they look like rotted teeth with black holes that a dentist will drill holes and replaced with a fillings.
If you do not look after your teeth you can have dentures. you can get dentures if you have too many rotten teeth. Dentures are ceramic teeth that the dentist might have given to you if (he, she) thinks you're teeth need replacing. BY Arya...

  23. Humans have different teeth then us humans we have.

1.Canines are the sharp teeth next to the incisors. They help you to tear and rip food.

2.The incisors are your four front teeth. They help you bite the food and chew the food.

3.premolars and morals they are the same as each other. They help you to crush and grind food.
Also a forgot to mention that there are four different types of teeth.

When you’re a toddler you will have milk teeth then when your about 6 or 5 your teeth will fall out. When your teeth falls out you will have adult teeth which are bigger than the small milk teeth. After a few years when your about 18 you will have wisdom teeth .The wisdom teeth are behind your molars.

You have to keep your teeth clean by brushing them twice a day because all the bacteria can cause a bad tooth decay. A part of making your teeth clean.

    .

The rule of making your teeth healthy you have to not smoke or drink alcohol . First lets talk about how bad it is to smoke. If you smoke your lungs are going to get damage .If you smoke you are basically you will have a gum disease. Now lets talk about how bad alcohol is. Alcohol makes you have cavities , gum deterioration ,and tooth loss. There is a one-two punch that occurs when drinking alcohol that causes many people problems: dehydration, and sugar-packed mixed drinks.

  24. Our teeth are inside of our mouth and we have 4 types of teeth they are canines, incisors , moloars and premolars. Also you must brush your teeth day and night and try to floss and use mouth wash and smile smile smile all day and you will have the shinest teeth in the world.Did you know that all of our teeth are made from milk. Also do not drink coke candy and anything that is sweet make your teeth shine.

You must eat anything sweet in a meal because then your teeth will keep getting a attack. I think we children have about 30 teeth in our mouth. As you get older you must take very good care of your teeth because they will be more sensitive.DO you go to the dentist every month?

We humans are different to animals because they have different parts of their body like we do. 25. There are four kinds of teeth: incisors, canines, premolars and molars. The incisors are located in the very front of your mouth, the canine teeth are in the corners of your mouth, premolars are located just behind the canine teeth and the molars are the last teeth towards the back of your mouth. Each kind is designed to do different things. The incisors are the sharpest teeth, built to cut food. The canine teeth grasp and tear food. Premolars have a flat surface to chew and crush food and the molars have a bigger, flatter surface to chew and grind food.

Humans have two sets of teeth in their life: milk teeth and permanent teeth. Milk teeth start growing at six months of age and begin to fall out by the age of six and are replaced with adult teeth. An adult has 32 permanent teeth.

Looking after your teeth prevents tooth decay. Tooth decay is caused by bacteria eating sugar left in the mouth and forming acid, which rots teeth. To prevent teeth rotting it is good practice to brush your teeth twice a day, floss between your teeth, use mouth wash, avoid eating sugary foods and visit the dentist regularly.

  26. The Teeth
The teeth are responsible for breaking down food into smaller pieces so that we can swallow it and digest. Teeth start to form even before we are born, milk teeth or baby teeth start to form when the baby is in the womb, but they come through when the child is between 6-12 months. This is called teething and its very painful. The central incisor or the front middle teeth usually come first, and then teeth begin appearing on either sides and work their way back to the second molars. By the time a child has reached three years old, most of the “ baby teeth” should be present. The process begins to repeat itself when the child is about seven years old. These milk teeth are usually lost and replaced by permanent teeth. Permanent teeth are the second set of teeth formed.
The tooth is basically made up of two parts: the crown and the root. The crown is what you see when you smile or open your mouth. It’s the part that sits above your gum line. The root is below the gum line. It makes up about 2/3 of the tooth’s total length.
We have different kinds of teeth and its different functions. They are different because they perform and designed to do different things. The Incisors are the teeth in the very front. They’re the sharpest teeth, built to cut food and shaped to shovel the food inward. The Canine teeth are in the corner of your mouth and they are meant for grasping and tearing food, they have very long roots. Premolar are located just behind your Canine teeth. They are more for crushing food. The Molars are the last teeth towards the back of your mouth and their job is to chew and grind the food into smaller pieces.
If you don’t take care of your teeth, cavities and unhealthy gums will make your mouth very, very sore. Eating meals will be difficult and you won’t feel smiling so much. Taking care of your teeth helps prevent plaque, which is a clear film of bacteria that sticks to your teeth. The bacteria breaks down into acids that eat away tooth enamel, causing holes called cavities. Plaque also causes gingivitis, which is gum disease that can make your gums red, swollen, and sore. If you take care of them, they’ll help take care of you. Brushing your teeth after every meal is a must. Effective brushing cleans every tooth surface in a gentle, massaging motion. An effective brushing takes 2-3 minutes.

  28. Your teeth are a part of your that is used for cutting grinding and ripping food. Teeth are made up of a number of different tissues like pulp, dentin, enamel and cementum. These form different layers in the teeth structure. There are twenty milk teeth and thirty-two permanent (adult) teeth.
The easiest way to maintain teeth is to ensure to brush twice a day. For those with sensitive teeth, it is appropriate to take additional care of the teeth from getting affected further. Without teeth you would not be able to chew anything at all.
If you don`t brush your teeth properly you could get different types tooth dizzies like tooth decay and even you could get something wrong with your gums.

  29. Different types of teeth and their functions.

    1) Incisors (from Latin incidere, "to cut") are the front teeth present in most heterodont mammals. They are located in the premaxilla above and on the mandible below. Humans have a total of eight (two on each side, top and bottom). Opossums have 18, whereas armadillos have none. Adult humans normally have eight incisors, two of each type. Children with a full set of deciduous teeth (primary teeth) also have eight incisors, named the same way as in permanent teeth. Young children may have from zero to eight incisors depending on the stage of their tooth eruptionand tooth development.

    2) In mammalian oral anatomy, the canine teeth, also called cuspids, dog teeth, fangs, or (in the case of those of the upper jaw) eye teeth, are relatively long, pointed teeth. However, they can appear more flattened, causing them to resemble incisors and leading them to be called incisiform. They developed and are used primarily for firmly holding food in order to tear it apart, and occasionally as weapons. They are often the largest teeth in a mammal's mouth. Most species that develop them normally have four per mammal, two in the upper jaw and two in the lower, separated within each jaw by its incisors; humans and dogs are examples. In most species, canines are the anterior-most teeth in the maxillary bone.

    3) The molars or molar teeth are large, flat teeth at the back of the mouth. They are more developed in mammals. They are used primarily to grind food during chewing. The name molar derives from Latin, molaris dens, meaning "millstone tooth", from "mola", millstone and dens, tooth. Molars show a great deal of diversity in size and shape across mammal groups. In humans, the molar teeth have either four or five cusps. Adult humans have twelve molars, in four groups of three at the back of the mouth. The third, rearmost molar in each group is called a wisdom tooth. It is the last tooth to appear, breaking through the front of the gum at about the age of twenty, although this varies from individual to individual.

    4) The premolar teeth, or bicuspids, are transitional teeth located between the canine and molar teeth. In humans, there are two premolars per quadrant in the permanent set of teeth, making eight premolars total in the mouth. They have at least two cusps. Premolars can be considered as 'transitional teeth' during chewing, or mastication. They have properties of both the anterior canines and posterior molars, and so food can be transferred from the canines to the premolars and finally to the molars for grinding, instead of directly from the canines to the molars

    5) A wisdom tooth or third molar is one of the three molars per quadrant of the human dentition. It is the most posterior of the three. Wisdom teeth generally erupt between the ages of 17 and 25. Most adults have four wisdom teeth, one in each of the four quadrants, but it is possible to have fewer or more, in which case the extras are called supernumerary teeth. Wisdom teeth commonly affect other teeth as they develop, becoming impacted. They are often extracted when this occurs.
