Science Trip

We would like you to write a short (3-4 paragraphs) report about our trip to the London Museum of Water and Steam. You could include:
·         The Water Cycle workshop
·         Puzzling properties workshop
·         Splash zone
·         Waterworks gallery
·         Materials trial

Please try to focus on what you found out, rather than who you sat next to or what you had for lunch!

  1. The trip to the water and steam museum was wonderful. We went outside were there was a place full of water and had to make all the water wheels spin by placing these red plastic boards in a place. After all, we made all three of them spin and they carried water to the other side of the water wheel. On the other side, there was a huge spinning metal thing carrying water. The water was very cold because there were pieces of ice in it.

I really liked the fact that there were four black cats that liked to live there! I had a great time with my group and I especially liked the Water Cycle workshop. The four steps of the water cycle are: precipitation, collection, evaporation and condensation. We made drawings on paperplates of the steps and you had to twist them. It was an activity with Rebecka!

It was really fun when we saw the fish in the derty water and that wehad to find these things on the list and describe it. In the room next to that one, was a piece of glass in the floor and if you looked in it you would see a wierd cave. There was this wierd thing because this museum was science museum and there were two pieces of art around the piece of glass.

  2. In this report I’ll be telling you about the trip to the London Water and Steam museum. We went to this trip on Wednesday 30 November with 2 teachers and 4 parents. We travelled to the museum in South West trains.

I loved the water cycle workshop because it was very arty. I learnt so much about the water cycle. I learnt that there are four stages of the water cycle which are Precipitation, collection, evaporation and condensation.

The next workshop was called puzzling properties. We learnt about solids, liquids and gases. We learnt to group up with a pair and then we were given cards. Then we had to ask the questions which were in the cards.

We then went to the splash zone, which was the best part of the museum. In the splash zone we played with water. The water was very cold as there were a few ice cubes in there.

The materials trial workshop was an easy trials where we had to spot the objects which were given, describe them, write about the texture and we had to write if they are gas, liquid or solid.

The water works gallery was very big, quite creepy. There were two creepy passage ways which had a lot of information on the walls and also information shown in pictures.

I loved the splash zone the most. I’ve learnt many things about water and steam. If I get a chance, I would love to go the museum again and learn more things and stay there for a longer time.

  3. I first trip in year 4 was the london museam of warter a steam. The first thing we did was the warter cycle workshop and we learnt about the warter cycle. The warter cycle was very fun to learn about. I found out a lot of things expesiolly the order.

The second thing we did was the splash zone,in the splash zone we had to try brake the ice and i enjoyed it. The splash zone was the most exiting thing out of all of the day. The third thing we did was the material trial and what we had to do was find a partner and find materials on a sheet of peice of paper.

The 3 thing we did was the warterwork gallery and i saw load and loads of stuff. The fourth thing we did was the puzziling propites workshp and what we had to do was find a partner get a clipboard and a sheet and we had to play a game and write it down. My favroute bit of the trip was the splash zone.

  4. In this I will be telling you about our first trip to The London Water And Steam Museum. We traveled on the south west trains to get to the museum.
The splash zone was very fun although the water we played in was
very cold. We had to try to get some wheels to spin.
I also learnt the particular words to use for the water cycle like precipitation(the first part of the water cycle.

  5. In the first trip of year4 we went to work shop which told us how the water sycle worked.First it mite be a puddle from the clouds then it would turn to steam and go up to the clouds after that it would turn to water and come down.

We also went to the splas zone where me and my fiends tryed to over flow the water. It was outside and it was so cold it turned to ice.

In the water gallery there were work out things we had to roll them to make th tank fill up. there was also a little tunel there with a fake rate.

  6. On our trip to the steam and water museum on Wednesday the 30th of November,We first went to the water cycle workshop which was amazing. Then we had to wind up the paddles with our hand so that the water fills up the bucket.Doing this activity was very fun.

Our next workshop was called puzzling properties workshop. The task that we've have had to do was to decorate the templates with tiny little colors and we had to write the 4 names we have to do and always remember and those were Condensation, Collection, Evaporation and Precipitation.

The third workshop was to make a flood side to the other side. Also the next group was to make a smashing tunnel for the ice to break into little pieces to work.In the water the group had all the ice to fit in the big thing that was the big screw.

The fourth workshop was the water work gallery and there was everything to learn and play in.The water work gallery was very fun because there was games to play and we had to complete it.So the task was to do something very hard like learning how to come up the tunnel. Also there was only 1 rat and it was very spooky.

So finally our last task was to find the material and tic it If I find it also we had to do 10 pages. It was absolutely fun because I've been everywhere to tic.So you have to write a big definition and tell what it's material and what the definition. In the water and steam museum we learn all about how the water supply for every one.

  7. Last Wednesday 30th of November,we went on a trip in Kew Steam Museum. We took the south west train and waited for 10 minutes. Then,we got down at Kew Bridge and walk all the way through the Water and Steam Museum. When we came in, I just looked around and see loads of things. There were a man and a lady, they were explaining us what water and steam means. They asked us,"How can you make water"?Then we went in groups to the water cycle workshop. The lady was talking and explaining about water and she said,"You have to remember four words, which is precipitation, collection, evaporation and condensation". After we went to the puzzling properties workshop,in which we had to think if the object is solid ,liquid,or gas. Then we went to the splash zone, where there was ice and water. We had fun playing with water.Thats the best part I enjoyed most. Then we had our lunch. When we finish eating we went to waterworks gallery and we saw fire, machine, fish and other more things. Finally,we went to materiala trials. The lady gave us some pictures of the things that were there. We had to touch them, feel them and describe them.
We went back to the station and get in the train and waited for minutes. We went back to school and got ready to go home.I had so much fun.I would like to come back again in Water and Steam museum.

  8. My first trip in year 4 was the London museum of water and steam. The first thing we did was the water cycle and we learnt a few things about it.I found it interasting because there were 4 types steps and they are precipitation, collection, evaporation and condensation.

The second thing we did was called puzziling properteies. We learnt
about solid, liquid and gas. Then we were given cards. Then we had to ask questions about the object that was on the card.

The third thing was we went to the splash zone. That place was really fun even though that I dropped my glove in the water. At the start the water was ice so some of the boys smashed it then it became cold water.

The 4th thing was we did The materials trial. This was a easy task.We had to spot items which were given on the sheet. Then we had to write if it was solid, liquid or gas.

The 5th thing was we explored the water gallery the water gallery.Everyone was temting to go on the water machene.everyone was scared of the pretend rat.I liked the robot rat because you can look underground from above.

I liked the London water and steam museum because it was very fun and exciting.
I liked the water cycle work shop because we learnt about the water cycle.
The for stages of the water cycle are precipitation, collection, evaporation and condensation.
Precipitation is when water or rain falls down a tap or the clouds.
Collection is when the water gets collected into rivers, ponds and lakes.
Evaporation is when water dries up.
Condensation is when the water rises and becomes into a gas.
Then it turns back into a liquid. Also, I liked it when we were making our poster about the water cycle. I also liked the splash zone because it was very fun when we had to make the weal’s spin. Also I liked it as we were trying to make the river Thames flow. I also liked it when we were going on the material trial because we got to feel the different materials and got to look at them.
The part I liked a lot was when we went to the splash zone because we got to play and we got to see how the weal moved. My best part about the trip was when we went to the water works gallery because we got to play and learn a lot.

  10. Last Wednesday 30th we went to the London
musium of water and steam we all went to
the work shop and we got to have some time
free and look around the place. we even got
to go to the water zone it was cold and there
was a roling thing that gets the water out.

I think it was so fun for me how did you
think how it is???? we got to look around
when we got to look around everyone was
scared of the face scary rat or was it a
mouse dose not mater.I think it was amazing
that trip was the best i'v seen

we sore a buck it with a whole in it and when
we put the thing up and down the water came
out of it and it was so fun we even learned
about the scientific word for rain i forgotten
it but i still had fun and i learned how to
make water if you want to know well i know
water is made out of steam.

  11. My trip to the Water and Steam museum on Wednesday 30 November 2016 was very exciting we learnt how steam engines were used to pump water at pumping stations. The engines were painted Black and Dark Green, they were very clean and enormous machines. These machines were over 100 years old.

We learnt in the workshop about the water cycle had four steps which are; precipitation, collection, evaporation and condensation. We had a list of things we had to find around the room and tick and state if they were solid, liquid or gas. I liked looking at the fish in the dirty water in room above us.

We went outside saw a big wheel the children turned it and it spilled the water back into the other side of the tank. We went to the other side of the play area (splash zone) there was another tank and we had to block the water to go to the other side by building a wall.

got are cards and a bord then we had to ges the things. The third was the splash zone. It was very fun there was ice what was very cold. Then the boys brock it down but it was very thick. the 4 thing was that we had to find stuff. We had to find them then we had to touch it then we had to write about it. by BARTEK

  13. The trip was a good trip nothing bad happened.

The best part of the trip was the splash zone because we needed to break the ice and get the pumps going round and round.Me and Tommy were pulling a roller also we manged to keep the water gonig in a wheel.

The second thing is we learnt the steps of the water-cycle
the first one is precipitation, collection, evaporation finally condensation. They were very important for future learning.

In the trip we needed to find some stuff we had to find if it is solid, liquid or gas by looking at it.We also made a duck fly by using water it was very hard.

  14. The museum of water and steam:

This report is about our recent trip to the museum of water and steam. Firstly they told us about the history of the building. It was built in the Victorian time and was used to pump clean purified water to houses. There were big machines and many uneven floors so we had to be careful. Next we went to the water cycle workshop and learnt about the water cycle with Ms.Rebecca and she showed us what happens by heating a kettle. The four stages are Precipitation, Collection, Evaporation and Condensation. We made a craft to remind us about those stages. We wrote Precipitation, Collection, Evaporation on a paper plate and cut a square hole in the other one . Next we stuck it together and decorated it nicely. Mr. David took us over to Puzzling Properties workshop.

After we arrived to puzzling properties we paired up and he explained about the differences between solids, liquids and gases. Then we made notes and then answered the questioner.Mr. David gave us a pack of special cards to play with our partners. We played for 15 minutes and then went outside to Splash Zone with our coats. The splash zone was my favorite place in the entire museum. It was like a playground but had a lot of ice and water. There was a big swirly turbine and we had to push it for it to carry water to the slide. There was also a huge tub and in one section you have to make a pipe that allows water to enter the other section. In the other section you have to make a dam out of blocks to block the water. Then we headed to the lunch room. There was tiny tables and the parents sat at the back of the lunch room. We enjoyed our packed lunches!

Towards the end of the tour we went to the Material trial and the Waterworks gallery. At the Material trial workshop (which was led by Miss Sharrat ) we were given a clipboard and put into groups of two. Then on the paper it showed different areas in the museum and we had to find the area and write what that area was made of and what it felt like. Finally we went to the Waterworks gallery and in the gallery there were many funny illustration of what early London did with their waste. There were many pumps and tunnels to explore and use. We stayed in the gallery for 45 min, I guess. I really liked one of the tunnels because there was a surprise at the end, which was a glass and inside the glass was a fake mouse. The tour to the museum was educational as well as exciting.

  15. The trip to the London Museum of Water and Steam was really exciting as we did a lot and learnt a lot. My favourite part was the water cycle because there was a lot to take in.

Firstly we did the water cycle workshop. We first learnt the stages of the cycle. These are: precipitation, collection, evaporation and then condensation. Once we had learnt the order of the cycle we did some art about the cycle. We had two plates and stuck them together then we cut a little hole in the plate to write the stages in it. We could spin that bit around. Then we decorated the plate. That work shop was my favourite part of the trip.

Then we went to the puzzling properties workshop. We were in groups of two and we had a set of cards each. We were meant to guess what was on the other person’s card. I learnt how to find out what someone has got without looking at it. You had to ask questions such as: can you pour it? or can it escape? to find out what your partner had.

After that we went to the splash zone. That bit was fun but my hands were freezing because the water had ice in it. We had to make dams in the water for the wheel to spin. On the biggest piece of equipment we had to spin something to make the water flow. There was a lever we had to lift but we couldn’t as there was too much ice in the water.

  16. The trip to the Water and Steam Museum was very exciting because there were lots of things to do like play in the Splash Zone. The people that owned the museum gave us worksheets to fill in which were really fun too. The two people that worked in the museum made us make a model which made it so easy for everyone to remember the four steps of the water cycle. The four steps are: precipitation, collection, evaporation and condensation.

At the splash zone, which was outside the building there were huge cabinets which had a lot of water in them, when we tried to play with the water but the water had so much ice on the top of the water. Everyone punched on the ice about two or three times the ice broke into bits and fell down into the water and dissolved. When everyone went back inside my hands were so numb it felt like my hands had turned into a block of ice.

Finally, we all went down some step and went inside a room which had a tunnel then when I went inside the tunnel to my surprise I saw a rat! The good thing about the tunnel was that the rat was not real and that there was a glass so that we did not touch the rat. I really liked the trip to the museum because it was so fun.

  17. We went to the water and steam museum ,it was a lot of fun. We went to a workshop which was lead by a man and a woman, they told us about the water cycle. A water Cycle is evaporation , precipitation , collection and condensation.

We were put in pairs , and we had a clip board and we had to find objects in the Museum and describe it . After that we went in a different room and did the same thing. Then we had a break we got to play games outside. After break we had lunch in a guest workshop.

After Lunch we went to a Material trial and the Waterworks gallery. When we were there we were given a click board and we explored, after that we went back to school.

  20. Our trip to the London Museum of Water and Steam was amazing and educational. In the Water Cycle workshop we learned the four stages of the Water Cycle, which are Precipitation, Collection, Evaporation and Condensation.

In the Puzzling Properties workshop we learned about states of matter – solids, liquids and gases. After seeing an experiment we were shown materials which we had to classify, based on their properties. We also had to work in pairs and identify objects, using cards.

The Slash Zone was fantastic! Here we splashed about and experimented with water using levers and wheels.

The Waterworks Gallery was interesting. We saw water pipes and pumps and went through tunnels. It was fascinating to see a pretend rat in a tunnel.

The Materials Trial was fun. We had to explore the museum to find objects and classify them.

  21. When we went to the Museum of Water and Steam first we went to the workshop. Where we have made our own water cycle. Then we went to another workshop and we went around the museum to find items who looks the same as it was draw'd on the chart. We found 7 items. Then we had lunch. After we went outside. Then we make the cycle work, but it was hard to do it because there was ice on top of the water. After we went to the splash zone and we saw a robot rat. The robot rat was running around the sewer. Then we fund a tv and we watch all the slide's. When we nearly finish I saw my friends making machine work they pump the machine and the water went high but not high enough. Unfortunately we had to go to the train station and go back to school. I enjoyed this trip very much.

After that we went to the Splash Zone with Ms Rebbeca .That was fun but the water had ice and made my hand cold. There were lots of equiptments and activities to do but we quite managed them to do.We were also carefull to not put the stones in the water but we had lots of fun.

  24. In our trip to Water and Steam Museum, We went to the train and reached to Brentford. Then, we went to the Green Dragon Lane and entered the museum. The staff gave us the safety instruction like if there is a fire alarm and so one.

Firstly, we went to the first workshop. We learned that people lived nearer the River Thames. We made water cycle plates. Then, we went to the second workshop. In that workshop we saw MEGA machines. I realized that those machines pumped bad water then they send it to London. Then we had lunch. Then we went to The Splash Zone. We saw how water pass and stop.

Then, we went back inside and we had to find the machine that is shown in the picture. Me and my partner and found everything. We went to Waterworks Gallery. I liked everything that was in the gallery but what was the most I liked was the Robot Rat. I saw my friend pumping up the water and I cheered for winning. Unfortunately, we had to catch up with our train. I really liked this trip and I learned to take care of water and never forget about them.
